Bromley based birth and postnatal doula

Welcome to Becoming Mum

Hello,

I'm Lisa, I live in West Wickham with my wonderful husband and two little boys, I am a trained and mentored birth and postnatal doula and work within the local Bromley area covering Hayes, Beckenham, Orpington, Chislehurst, Petts Wood and the surrounding areas.

Firstly congratulations .... as you are here now reading my website, you are either excitingly awaiting your newest arrival or you have been a warrior goddess and birthed your baby, either way you are looking for some support that focuses on your needs. You are in the right place.

My role is to build a friendly professional partnership with you supporting you to feel prepared, empowered and confident in the lead up to and during your baby’s birth. On bringing baby home, I will support you to rest and recover from birth, assisting practically and physically and being there for you emotionally, so you are able to enjoy this precious time with your baby and help build your confidence in learning your way as a new family.

Thank you for visiting my website to understand more about me, the role of a doula and how I can best support you, your partner and family in this exciting and perhaps a little overwhelming time of your life.

Lisa came and helped our family with our third child. I say helped our family because with her experience as a mum she was able to give a little to all of us, which she did gladly, with a smile and comforting demeanor. Although we didn’t need as much help making decisions as we had done previously, Lisa was very knowledgeable about what, when, why and also in giving suggestions and being supportive with anything we needed help with.

I wish we knew Lisa when we had our previous children, she would have been a huge asset. I can gladly recommend Lisa.

Lisa helped our little family (mum, dad and one year old) after my hernia operation. In the interview the main reason we choose her was that in addition to asking about our son she also asked about me and what support I would like. I had been so worried about my son being able to play, feed and be changed that I had completely forgotten about myself. Lisa is warm hearted, professional, reliable, knows how to help without being asked and fit into our family seamlessly. We wouldn't have got through the first few days after my op as smoothly and gently without her. She is a superstar and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs any extra physical and emotional help supporting their family after a baby.

What is a Doula?

Guide, Support, Empower

A Doula as a trained birth partner provides continuous emotional, physical and educational support to both the birthing person and partner, helping to sign post to reliable information sources to help empower you to make informed decisions when needed and provide a safe calming presence during labour as early as you feel you need it.

Once baby has arrived, a Doula will ‘parent the parents’ to give you space to recover from birth, provide support in the home and help you as parents to learn and grow in confidence at responding to your baby’s needs.
